You imbecile. Get the facts before you spout off: the sub was pulled up in the wake of the massive Japanese ship due to physics known as the "venturi effect". As Navy tradition holds, the commander is held responsible when anything goes wrong, whether they are at fault or not.
Nice to see you're out there putting your life on the line defending our country. Oh - wait a minute - you're sitting your dumb ass behind a computer monitor, bitching about things you know nothing about. Almost as respectable... NOT.
Gee Laura, why do you assume things not in evidence? You don't know me, so pray don't presume to lecture me military service. There are plenty of chickenhawks on your side of the fence who not only didn't serve, but also pulled strings to stay out of service and/or combat. (George Jr., j'accuse!)
I don't care if the sub crash happened because of the "Laurel & Hardy" effect, the sub would not have struck the tanker if it had maintained a safe distance and followed proper safety protocols. There was NO reason for that boat to be anywhere near the tanker unless you are going to try and tell me some "Hunt for Red October" wet dream involving stalking Al Qaeda boomers. Also, the Navy sub commanders have a damn poor record so far on these things. Safety doesn't seem important to them at all, and it is past time they cashiered some of these cowboys. The USS Greenvile was involved in THREE accidents within a SINGLE year. In the sinking of the Japanese fishing boat Ehime Maru that killed NINE people, there were CIVILIANS at the controls when the accident occurred. The captain of the ship could not even be bothered to surface and help pull people from the water, they had to wait for the Coast Guard to show up an HOUR later. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Greeneville_(SSN-772) You have a serious problem in the ranks when a single sub has THREE accidents in a year, all the result of negligence. Fuck Navy tradition! I think some admirals need to be "decommissioned". 10/25/03 - USS Hartford runs aground. 1/8/05 - USS San Franciso runs in an undersea MOUNTAIN (1 dead, 60 injured) 12/29/06 - USS Minneapolis loses four sailors overboard in a AVOIDABLE accident. (2 dead, 2 injured) That is SIX major accidents in SIX years. Don't come to my site an defend incompetence of that magnitude. |
