I have been bedeviled for the last week with a bug in a recent update of FireFox that caused all of my addons/extensions to stop working. Opening the addon windows and trying to uninstall or change the option settings of an addon would cause the addon window to freeze. Also, I couldn't delete or update any addons, as FireFox seems to have lost the ability to see that it has been re-started.
Finally, I found the
fix that solved the problem.
1) Close FireFox (and Thunderbird if you use it)
2) Search your drive for the following files:
extensions.rdf
extensions.ini
extensions.cache
3) Delete all instances of these files (Don't worry, FF and TB will recreate them when they start up.
4) Re-start FireFox and all should work fine.
Apparently during a recent update of FF, these files were corrupted and no longer functioned properly. I killed these files and everything worked fine.
Hurrah!
