More Questions Raised About Delay in Reporting Cheney Misfire

The more than 18-hour delay in news emerging that the Vice President of the United States had shot a man, sending him to an intensive care unit with his wounds, grew even more curious late Sunday. E&P has learned that the official confirmation of the shooting came about only after a local reporter in Corpus Christi, Texas, received a tip from the owner of the property where the shooting occured and called Vice President Cheney's office for confirmation.
The confirmation was made but it is not known for certain that Cheney's office, the White House, or anyone else intended to announce the shooting if the reporter, Jaime Powell of the Corpus Christ Caller-Times, had not received word from the ranch owner.
As usual, E&P is doing all the real reporting while the corporate-owned reporters simply accept the official story as gospel.
Bradblog raised another interesting point, specifically that Whittington was shot at 17:30, yet for some reason didn't make it to the hospital until almost THREE hours later at 20:15.
Katharine Armstrong, owner of the ranch Whittington was
gunned down "accidently shot" on has been playing down the the incident as minor.
Katharine Armstrong, the ranch's owner, told The Associated Press that the accident occurred after Cheney, Whittington and another hunter got out of a car to shoot at a covey of quail.
She said Whittington went to retrieve a bird he shot. Cheney and the third hunter, whom she would not identify, walked to another spot and discovered a second covey of quail.
Whittington "came up from behind the vice president and the other hunter and didn't signal them or indicate to them or announce himself," said Armstrong, who was in the car.
"The vice president didn't see him," she said. "The covey flushed and the vice president picked out a bird and was following it and shot. And by god, Harry was in the line of fire and got peppered pretty good."
I love how they blame "God".
Armstrong said the shotgun pellets broke the skin.
CNN interviewed a doctor from the hospital who said that the man was in the intersive care unit (ICU). You don't get sent to ICU for trivial flesh wounds.
Note to Scooter Libby: Decline any invitations to go hunting with your boss. They will never find the body.
Update: The apparent delay seems to be explained by the fact that Whittington was first taken to the hospital near Kingsville. But it seems that Whittington's condition was more than they could handle at that
facility's level IV trauma center (basic trauma care), and he was shipped off to a level III trauma center in Corpus Christi.
Once again, Cheney is doing his damndest to hide the truth.
Cheney shoots ... misses ... at least, we think he missed...
